DOWN TO THE BONE
Down To The Bone’s music gets harder , funkier and juicier with every release they do .Their music encompasses all that is funky , groovy and soulful with a little twist of Jazz . As founder producer and main writer of the band , Stuart Wade states that it’s all about the groove for him .It’s what drives him to continue creating.
Wade formed the project back in 1996 whilst co-owning Internal Bass in order to put out his music. So this and a previous stint with soul band Think Twice gave him the necessary experience to reach his goals .In 2001 Wade decide to split from Internal Bass Records and go solo signing to Verve Records.
Eight albums and various record deals later, a history of critical acclaim , chart topping success on US contemporary Jazz radio and regular plays on shows in the UK such as The Funk and Soul Show on BBC6 . A Grammy nomination followed by a nomination for Best International Band Of The Year in the American Contemporary Jazz Awards to be held later this year ,Wade is continuing to take his sound out live with an appearance at the Jazz Café ,which he tries to make as an annual event .After all it is here that DTTB made it’s first live appearance back in 1997.
Whilst renowned soul/jazz vocalists and musicians such as Brian Auger , Jeremy Steig , Roy Ayers , Reuben Wilson , Guida de Palma , N’Dambi , Hil St Soul , Flora Purim and Corrina Greyson have graced DTTB tracks in the past and present it’s recording and live core remains an ever growing melting pot of talented ,UK, musicians.
The live band for this show will feature the current , UK, line-up amalgamating some long term members such as Julian Crampton and Tony Remy along with newer faces and featuring for the first time, at the Jazz Café, tracks from their latest album “Future Boogie”.
Tim Smart-trombone/band leader , Jim Knight-sax , Ryan Jacob-trumpet , Davide Giovannini-drums,
